Message from Assunta Alumni President
Teresa Chan
Dear Fellow Assuntarians & Supporters,
It is indeed an honour for me to lead such a great, enthusiastic and active Alumni.
I accepted the post with apprehension, for Peggy Liu had set such high standards and had begun so many projects over the two terms she served as the AA President, that it would be quite a task to keep up and follow through.
However, I was pledged relentless support by the Team and backed by such a Team and ALL of YOU, I hope to bring forth and keep the Assunta Spirit Alive. It has been alive for the past 50 years and may it never be snuffed out.
Way back in December 1957, when my parents received a letter saying that their daughter must attend school in PJ being a resident of PJ, I cried buckets. How could I possibly begin Std 5 in a strange school? How could I leave my friends whom I have known since Std 1?
But I bless the day that I stepped into Assunta and donned the brown and white uniform. I feel so proud to say that I am an Assuntarian... as one of our tagline goes "Once an Assuntarian Always an Assuntarian."
The ideals that I learnt at Assunta has taught me to give without counting the cost, that being charitable and truthful are such great virtues that money cannot buy.
I take this opportunity to thank Sister Enda, teachers past and present for their dedication and love in bringing the name of Sekolah Menengah Assunta to its present glory. To my AA Team, thank you for your support and faith in me.
And finally, to the present girls at Assunta, keep the ASSUNTA SPIRIT ALIVE.
"Ever and ever more, to Assunta School we pledge loyalty..."
Yours in Service,
Teresa Chan (Class of '64)
