Greetings from Kakuma!
I am a sister of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary. By God's grace, I've been here in Kenya on different Mission Posts since 1987. I came to Turkana land after my last home visit to Malaysia in year 2001. (I return home every four to five years.)
Of my five different mission areas of work in Kenya over the years, I have found Turkana land the most remote and difficult area to work in.
This website will tell you the story. Many hands have toiled to bring Saint Clare of Assisi’s Turkana Homecraft Centre to what it is today. But the work does not stop here. People need our support, care and understanding. The Mission wants to upgrade the centre to meet the current and future needs of the people of Kakuma. We are raising funds to meet some of these needs.
Among many other needs, including student education loan, the need of a vehicle is top priority. I hope with the effort of many generous Malaysians and world citizens who visit this website combined, the gift of a vehicle for the students will be a reality by August 2005.
This presentation also covers the aspects of works that help alleviate the problems faced by the female students of Turkana District, Kenya. Your financial support will make it possible for us to reach out to this group of people.
It is our hope that with your support and God’s blessings, we will be able to continue our mission at the St Clare of Assisi’s Turkana Homecraft Centre, in Kakuma, Kenya, Africa.
